An industrial manufacturer managed customer orders through emails and phone calls.
As orders moved from one department to another, teams had to track multiple email threads and manually verify details. Sales couldn't easily track production progress, production teams had limited visibility into urgent customer requests, and finance had to wait for fulfillment updates before generating invoices.
The problem became more serious after one customer order was missed during the transition from sales to production. In addition, another shipment left the warehouse before an invoice was generated. The manufacturer needed a better way to keep every team informed throughout the order lifecycle while supporting Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) requirements for key customers.
