The Challenge

Our client, a Michigan-based manufacturer of industrial pumps, worked with more than 180 active suppliers to source castings, seals, motors, bearings, and other critical components.

Procurement teams had limited visibility into supplier performance until delayed deliveries or quality issues disrupted production.

Supplier contracts, ISO certifications, inspection reports, and compliance documents were scattered across emails and shared folders. This data storage made it difficult to verify whether suppliers continued to meet the quality standards.

The company also lacked a structured way to monitor supplier performance over time. Procurement teams couldn't easily identify suppliers with declining on-time delivery rates, recurring quality rejections, or slow response times until those issues affected production schedules.

After a delayed shipment of precision-machined pump shafts brought one assembly line to a standstill, the manufacturer realized it needed a more proactive way to manage supplier performance.

The Solution

We developed custom vendor management software that helped procurement teams monitor supplier performance.

The platform automatically generated supplier scorecards based on delivery performance, quality metrics, and responsiveness. It also tracked certification validity and sent reminders before critical documents expired, helping procurement teams stay ahead of compliance requirements.

To simplify supplier collaboration, we introduced a registration-free self-service portal that allowed vendors to upload documents, respond to requests, and update information without creating user accounts.
